The new Lake District CD ROM
is about the walks, tours, wildlife heritage and famous people in the Lake District. Copies are available in some 'Made in Cumbria' outlets and some bookshops and gift shops in the Lake District eg Rheged. A new program has enabled more multimedia features and new CD ROMs have text, photos, video, background music, internet links, e-mail links, scrolling satellite based maps and scrolling panoramas.

The new 'Hadrian's Wall' CD ROM
describes the history and archaeology of the Wall. Almost 900 copies have been sold to visitors to the museums and Information Centres on the Wall. 'English Heritage' have now stocked all their Hadrian's Wall museums with the CD ROM. A new program has enabled more multimedia features and new CD ROMs have text, photos, video, background music, internet links, e-mail links, scrolling satellite based maps and scrolling panoramas.

BROCHURE CD ROMS :
Hotels, guest houses, businesses etc. have the opportunity to make their own 'brochure' CD ROMs and these high impact presentations can now be replicated at amazingly low cost. Discs are now available for 13p you will only need a burner on your PC to do DIY copying. We can print and replicate small numbers for 40p. Mass production, for at least 1,000 discs, costs about 45p and the disc can be screen printed in full colour. The latter involves extra art work at cost. Discs can have various multimedia pages ( text, photos, video, background music, sketch maps, scrolling map, scrolling panorama, animations, slideshows, e-mail links, web links, hot spots, etc.) Some pages will be given FREE to emphasise the local area. COMPLIMENTARY LAKE DISTRICT CD ROMS :

Provide an incentive for bookings to your hotel or to improve your mailing list. Use the incentive on the web or in newspaper adverts. Personalise our CD Rom with your photograph for only £1. You can also add extra pages for £10 to show more photographs or a slideshow.

Web sites can also be designed for Lake District hotels, apartments, cottages and guest houses. There will be an initial meeting to discuss the exact requirements and the number of pages. Domain registration will be arranged and the web site will be hosted with a national server. The design of the index and content pages will be discussed and the photography, e-mail, location maps and links arranged. The site will be optimised for search engines with the use of 'meta tags' for title, description and key words. The site will be submitted to the 'Google' search engine and registered with DMOZ. Full statistical analysis of site activity will be arranged. A five page site would cost £250. For those who wish us to increase the number of content pages on their site on a regular basis (and thus move up the 'Google page ladder'), there is the option to use our extensive free library of Lake District and Cumbria photographs. Web sites with 5 pages will receive a FREE multimedia 10 page 'Brochure' CD ROM. Larger sites will also have a free slideshow, whose size will be proportional to the project.

PHOTOGRAPHS: Please e-mail if you wish to use a photograph commercially. Photographers in the Lake Distict usually charge £80-£100. Our photos are discounted at £50 for use on your web site and/or accommodation brochure.

The Virtual Lakes site has about 400 visitors per day and hits are 4,000 - 5,000 per day. Most visitors are from the UK and USA, while a small proportion are from Europe, the Far East and Australia. We are on the first page with Google for 'Lake District walks', 'Lake District tours' and 'Lake district photos'. We are on page 5 for searches using 'Lake District'. We are similarily placed on AOL, MSN and Yahoo. Your advert will therefore be prominent on the Internet and you can advertise with a full page of information and photograph for £50 per year. Seven Lake District photographs can be provided free to add impact.
